LEAN FINELY TEXTURED BEEF.

At BPI, our signature beef is lean finely textured beef. It is 100% beef and is key to making healthy ground beef. It is simply the lean beef trimmed from sirloins, ribeyes and other whole muscle cuts. No organs, tendons, bones or fillers are used.

PRECISE TRIMMING.

Ground beef has always been made with beef trimmed from the whole muscle cuts. The difference is the precision with which we are able to trim the meat.

More precise trimming means MORE beef from the same cattle and LESS fat.

More Lean

From the Same Beef Trim

When beef is divided into cuts, 53% go to steaks and roasts and 47% are cuts for ground beef known as beef trimmings.

To make leaner ground beef from these fresh trimmings, we developed a precision method using a specially designed centrifuge instead of a using butcher knife. It is similar to the process used to separate milk from cream and make low fat milk.

The centrifuge spins at high speeds to separate heavier elements, like lean meat (or milk) from light elements like fat (or cream).

Once the fat is removed, this trimmed beef is 95% lean.

Our commitment to environmental responsibility and sustainable agriculture is ingrained in our operations. Because of the innovative way we produce lean beef, we estimate that 20,000 fewer cattle need to be processed every week to supply the lean beef demands of consumers.

In a world where population is increasing, red meat consumption is rising, and available supply is declining, it’s not only a more efficient, more respectful use of the animal, it feeds a whole lot more people. And it helps keep burgers leaner.
